I'm bored. ;)

I was 17 when I moved out... it wasn't really intentional, but I had a pretty bad relationship with my dad. we couldn't be in the same room without getting into a fight. he'd never admitt it, but I just think that we're too much alike ;)

I moved out to go to college, and that first summer break, a friend invited me to stay with her in an apartment she was subletting in town so she'd have a friend to hang out with. the idea of spending a summer away from my dad wasn't all that unappealing. one thing just kinda led to another, and I went 4 years without spending more than a week or two at my parents' house in any given stretch (mostly just the holidays). I moved back for a year after graduating college, just until I could find a job where I made enough to support myself.

Moved out when I was 16. I got a scholarship at a boarding school in the States and my parents were okay with me leaving so... Off I went. I don't think I can ever live in the same house as them again.

Moved out to go to college when I was 18, haven't spent more than a night at parents house since, now 23. It helps that I only moved 30 mins away though, so there isn't much reason to spend the night :) I plan to move 3 hours away to the beach in 7 months when my current lease is up, can't wait.

I was about 20. I was in college. We got along just fine, I just didn't want to live with their rules anymore and was mature enough to know that that meant I move out.

hmm

I left home at 18 to go to college, but it wasn't a total break, as my parents were still paying and I would come home during some breaks. Now I'm in grad school and still same applies, and I still get some monetary support from my parents, about the same level as undergrad (just money for rent, tuition+other money was/is paid for by scholarships and summer jobs)

after finishing grad school if I got a job in Dallas I'm sure I could come live at home for a few months to save money with no problems otherwise why limit myself?

so what qualifies as moving out, the physical act of leaving or the act of cutting off all financial dependence? i know my parents wouldn't charge me rent if i moved back home either, that would be ridculous

Call me nit-picky, but doesn't that mean that you didn't really move out @ 17?

I was 21, and moved out a few weeks after completing university. I moved because I wanted to experience life on my own, not relying on someone else to provide for me.

I was 19, actually moved out this past June. Spent the summer after my first year of school at home, that was a depressing period after enjoying college life so much. I vowed to move out after my second year, parents were pretty fvcking pissed off (arab family) but now they've accepted it.

Living under your own rules is just so much better. Fvck authority. Although I love my parents. Great people.
