With their move to cater to something above the "look, flat is good!" mentality it's oh so disappointing that I went in to look at TVs this weekend. Something along the lines of a 65/73" TV.

Frantically looking around all I see are small/flat TVs. Yanking a blue shirt guy aside with the simple question - "I want to see the best TVs you have in the store. Minimum requirements are 65", 1080p"

"we don't carry those"

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! Only words out of my mouth are "you have got to be kidding me?" Sorry for the rant, but I wanted to buy a TV this weekend and realize yet again why to avoid best buy.

Best Buy is a retail store.... this means they only sell products which can be sold to the masses. Rarely if ever will this type of store carry top of the line items, specialty products, or even have items from all brand names.
Same thing goes at circuit city, sears, wal mart, etc.

to buy a true top of the line TV, you must go to a home theater TV specialty shop.

Does anyone know if the Magnolias would carry such a TV?

And why would a store stock something that would rarely sell if ever?

Not even the local Hi-Fi places stock things like what you are looking for.

And why 1080p now?

Yeah. I know. I just thought with their recent move to capture/cater to the decerning crowd that they would at LEAST have something I could look at and potentially buy.

There is always Ovations in this area and other specialty shops that carry these models.

I think I'll stick with OneCall. My friend had an AWFUL experience with TVAuthority. And the worst part about it is, I recommended them to him. :|

Woah, really? Tell me the story. I'm about to purchase a Sammy HLS6188 and considered them.

Dude, it was AWFUL. I told my friend he needed to write a letter to TVAuthority and to also create a thread at avsforum and descibe his experience since avforums RAVES about TVAuthority. I'm not sure if he's done it yet, but he purchased his new Samsung 32" LCD from them I'd say about a month ago, and the ordeal was painful for me to even listen too. I just apologized to him and felt REALLY bad as I'm the person who recommend them to him. Anyway, I really think he would be the best person to tell the story, but it pretty much went like this. It took three weeks to get his set, but that wouldn't have really been a problem if they would have just told him when he could expect it. Everytime he called, they said, "it shipped out today." He received no tracking number and when he requested one, they gave him a bad tracking number (it gave no information). It got to the point where when he called, it sounded like he was bothering them. To him he said, they just didn't know what was going on. Now I could expect something like this from some mom and pop shop, but when you are purchasing some expensive equipment, you better tell me EXACTLY where my merchandise I ordered is. And I DEFINITELY expect a tracking number to let me know exactly when it will arrive. It was just an awful experience. He actually thought they just took his money and were never going to deliver his set. It was just a bad experience.

I planned on buying my plasma from them, but after hearing his story, I'll stick with OneCall. If it was this difficult to actually receive a TV, I'd hate to see what happens when I need to call it in for a warranty repair. :( Anyway, I recommened OneCall to my brother for his DLP set and they were AWESOME every step of the way. Complete night and day difference.

Provided you have access to a costco, I would recommend taking a look at the HL-S 6767w. It contains the same components as the latest samsung dlp's but stuffed in a generation old housing. It goes for $3499 in stores and $3599 on costco's website.

67" of 1080p goodness + costco's warranty, what's not to like?
