Yet another ebay fraud thread

A friend of mine has an 02 Ford Mustang GT Roush. He has lots of pictures of the car on Cardomain. Someone left a message in his guestbook asking for his VIN. He laughed and blew it off. A few days later, he finds pics of his car on an ebay auction.

Everything points to fraud -- the seller's account, etc. He's trying to get a hold of ebay to shut it down.

Is this common?

It's scary. Granted his car isn't really in any danger here, it still would suck to get all wrapped up in some legal battle.

Is that really his VIN number, because if it's not then I don't think it'd matter if "his" car got sold in that auction. BTW, I love how the seller listed nothing about the car other than just a spec sheet.

No, it's not his VIN. So I guess that means the seller is only using pics of his car then, huh?

Presumably. No where in the description did he list any of the Rousch added modifications (Vortech SC, body kit, side exhaust, A-pillar gauges, etc etc)

I emailed the guy calling him a total douchebag though. It's not cool stealing other people's pictures and at the same time, misrepresenting your car or trying to defraud someone. 🙂

Thanks, RB.

The seller is getting slammed with emails from at least two Mustang forums that I read. Plus, many people have emailed the bidders as well.

That is such a beautiful 'stang.

Anyway, it's still fraud because he is misrepresenting his car for sale in those pictures. Even though he doesn't mention that it's a turbo Rousch in the description, he is still legally representing that it is via the pictures, just as though he had said so in the description.

why would someone ebay such a ncie car anyway, they would never get anythign close to what its worth especially with allt he addons

good luck to your friend

What if he had specifically wrote in the description "Item may be similar to that in the pictures" - that would get him off the hook so to speak, right?

And it's a supercharger, not a turbo 🙂
