Anyone know a good SMALL digital camera? I have an old 2mp kodak camera now, and it works fine, but it's kinda bulky. It'd be cool to have a really small camera (something the size of a deck of cards would be really cool 🙂) that would be easy to carry around. 2 or 3mp is fine, I don't need giant resolution. I usually just shrink pictures down to around 800pixels wide anyway.

Any recommendations would be appreciated 🙂
 
shouldn't have tossed that PC Photo magazine. it had top 10 mini digital cameras. sorry =\.

head to the book store and read it.
 
I got an S230 cause of it's size, but that may not be the "small" you are thinking of... do you want one of those credit card sized ones? or a more useable sized one like the S230?

you could get an S400 or something... they work awesome.. I love digital Elph cameras.

1) Not particularly, I've always just plugged my old camera into a USB port to get data off it before. It uses compact flash but I've never really needed to even take the card out. I'll probably do the same thing with the new camera.

2) I'd like it to fit comfortably in my pocket. I'd prefer 2 or 3x optical zoom, but if a camera without it is smaller or cheaper, I might take that, too. It really depends on the whole camera.

1) I also use USB to transfer pics between digicam and computer 🙂

2) Good answer and CF is the most widely available, versatile and cheapest media.

I have to get back to work (sorry) but if you can buy today I would get it from Dell Home using their automatic 10% off discount with free shipping and get:

Canon PowerShot S230 or SD100.

Minolta DiMAGE S414 4MP for $314 (ask Viper GTS about this loaded digicam but I'm not sure if it's ultra compact or not).

I just added one of those multi format card readers to my current system, popped it in a 3.5 bay, love it, no messy cables, etc...

I hate removing the media from the digicam to insert into a reader.

USB all the way, I know it drains the battery power but that's what rechargeable NiMH's are for 😉
