hey all i have been scouring the web for hours trying to find a forum that actually HELPS folks out!! this seems to be the place so far. i know it's a played out issue but i just came into posession of a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series laptop.

service tag is - 19TJ632

please help i'm really in need of this unit working!! thanks!!

Are you getting BIOS error when you try to boot the computer?
Or is there a BIOS password that you can't get past?
Or are you just looking for a BIOS update for the laptop?
Or something else?

oh wow!! you guys actually responded!! i do apologize for the vagueness of the post. i am in need of getting past the bios and more than likely the hdd password to follow on this machine. dell does not seem to care about a craigslist buy when it comes to ownership lol. any help would be fantastic!!

If it's a BIOS password, you'll have to get the computer registered with Dell with you as the owner before they will help you. The original owner will need to contact Dell to authorize the transfer of ownership. Or just have the original owner give you the BIOS password that they put on the machine.

There's really not much else that can be done. If it was a desktop you could (sometimes) clear the CMOS by removing the battery on the motherboard but that doesn't work for Dell's laptops.
