know how you would always have to launch hl, then activate cs? can I just go straight into cs without bothering with hl? I looked in the cs directory and didn't see any .exe files.

I made a shortcut and pointed it to:
"D:\Program Files\Half-Life" -cstrike

(quotes ARE included) and it only brought me to Program Files\Half-Life directory.

When I installed CS, it made shortcuts for me..

2) "D:\Program Files\Half-Life\hl.exe -cstrike"


1 says windows cannot find d:\program since there's a space between 'program' and 'files' so I needed quotes. so I tried quotes and it basically launches half-life..not cs.

to allow access to the console by the "~" button

woohoo, lnguyen bned me with the shortcut and it works (the thread was locked so he bned me and then it became unlocked...mods do make mistakes :Q)

K this is exctly what mine says, change it accordingly to fit the directory u have halflife in:

G:\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game cstrike -numericping

Try using Gamespy. It works really well, since it runs hl directly with the server info, so you don't have to go through all the menu sh&amp;t. Also, the evaluation version works fine, and allows you to see many more servers than the hl multiplayer thing.

yes, I second gamespy. I just started using it yesterday. very nice program. it puts you right into the game once you find a server.
