Just asking what you all think of the build, improvements, advice, etc.

Price is ~1300$. Any way I could save money on this would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure, probably 100-150, that's their standard regular edition pricing.

Skooma, are you going to add anything besides increasing your post count?

Are you planning to overclock?

And aren't the better value storage options? I mean gigabyte per $ there must be better options

Are you?

You start yet another "Yet Another" thread and make no mention of budget, oc'ing, reasons for your selections or any specifics that would make this thread the least bit useful.

Do you want everyone to "ooooh" and "ahhhh" about your selections or do you want to provide any sort of reasoning behind them swo people can add some meaningful input?

Anyway, heres mine-

Aye, just pick the front page and ask if its a good build. Perfect. Here ya go OP-

Does that make you feel better? Am I only increasing my post count if I give you a  ? Is it only when I point out the uselessness of a thread that I am increasing it?

I'd love to be more helpful but there isn't much to add- you clearly have planned the best build for what you need. Nice

Personally, I would want more storage. For a total of $40 more you could get two Caviar 160GB drives and double your capacity. Heck, you're already spending 1300:) But otherwise, it looks pretty good.

I would go up to the e6600 (extra cache and clock are probably worth the $100)

Right now, I've got one 80GB drive, and only thirty is used. I don't use a lot of disk space, and I can always get another drive if necessary.

I may overclock in the future, when Core 2 Duo is no longer cutting edge, but that's a long ways away.

I think E6300 is allendale and E6400 is Conroe. Any way get a 1900XT round 350$, even if you need to egt E6300 instead

also get 500-600 watts quality psu

ATi is not an option. This PC will run Linux as well, and X1900XTX = $$$$$$$. I've checked, and Xtreme PSU calc puts the max load for this at about 200 Watts. The Fortron will be fine.

Good call on the DDR2-667.

pre-orders only right now. Probably the best place is Tankguys. Ben is a great guy and hangs around the forums daily, not just here but XS, { H } etc. He tells it straight up and service is king, as it should be (imo). He's straigt up with availabilty and is one of the very few places that will allow you to specify stepping, not that stepping is an issue on pre-orders, just giving well deserved props.
