Some PC's I'm getting these to work, but not on others.

Right now I'm on my Dell 600m laptop runnin' XP SP2 and I downloaded AVI2 & it didn't work, then downloaded NIMO from the NIMO site.........(d/l.com tried to redirect you, but it doesn't work & hasn't for a few weeks).

I crunched a Canon digicam AVI vid into a DiVX avi and normally, so long as there's a DiVX codec on the machine, it works.

Well, I tried it on this machine & it didn't work. Realized I hadn't d/l'd a DiVX codec on this machine. Soooooo..........I d/l AVI2......didn't work. WMP just sat there & did nothing. then I d/l'd the NIMO & it didn't work.

W-T-F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In this particular case, this sucker just won't play the vid.

I just tried the k-lite pack & it still ain't workin'!!! (Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!)

I hate using the DiVX codec from DiVX 'cuz it's a bloated load of crap. That K-lite pack in basic is like barely over 1meg.

OK, I'll give it a try...........but...............which one?????????????????????

(note all 4 releases shown w/in a couple month's time)

FWIW, I just d/l'd the DiVX free pack (17mb...sheesh....and loaded w/ attempts to googlebar & 'pro' you to death during install) and that sucker worked like a charm.

I clicked on the vid file, it opened up WMP and played the freakin' file. Now why are the generic packs doin' it on other macines & not on this one??? (I even 'selected all' vid file types for WMP & it still didn't work)

Welp, FFDshow got the closest.......(I just d/l'd the latest build since it had the most downloads).

All it does is show about the top 1/3 of the screen in jarbled technicolor squares. I can hear the audio, but that's about it.

Looks like DivX is the only one that can do it on this machine.

Gotta be somethin' unique 'cuz I've got a desktop runnin' almost everything identical to this one & it runs it fine w/ any pack I install on it.
