I have 1000 dollars, please build me comp to run crysis at max.

.....just kidding. One of my friends down the hall is assembling a new rig. He's pulling out his hard drive and reusing all the peripherals, all we need is tower and innards. He does medium amount of gaming, but we're preparing for the heavy stuff anyway just in case. He has a 17" screen, but is thinking about picking up something next year...but in the 20" arena. Went with the 640MB version of the GTS for if/when he goes to the 20". Overclocking is a yes, either he'll do it or we'll do it for him :p

Ideally he wants to be around 1000, less is better..but not to a loss of performance.

Debating between S-Flex and Yate Loon, Yate Loons are cheaper but S-Flex performs a little better.

Better deals anywhere? Anything a horribly bad idea?

Does he really need the quadcore? He could save almost $200 by going with the E2140 dual core $75 and overclocking it to 3.0-3.2 and be just as fast as the quad in all but a couple of games and even in games that could use the quad the difference is not much

Well it's more down the road thing. I figured the quad and dual core argument would come up. Anyway, he's not a big hardware kid so he's probably not upgrading or adjust anything for a long long time. So the way I see it is that if he gets a quad now it will be one less thing to worry about down the road.

That and he's a CGT minor, our school has a thing where we can remotely use software from our computers and I figured CATIA likes power.

..but yeah I'm still in between on the quad and dual core issue as well.
