Yet another Build request

I'm trying to build a great gaming computer. I'm going to work with $1500 so I'm going to put some stuff out and lets see what you guys have for me. Thanks in advanced.

Mobo and Cpu: AMD
I dont like Gigabyte hardware
I'd like to get the new 890 chipset
Six GB of ram
I'm also wondering if to Nvidia GTX460's would be a good buy or if I should get a singular AMD video card.

IF you guys need any more info I'll put in some more.

The type of games I want to play are of course Starcraft 2. I also want to be able to put anything else for at least two years ahead of now and not have to worry about upgrading.

I do need an OS, preferably Windows 7. I already have a moniter its a HP 2338H.

Is this new build for you (as an upgrade) or someone else? You've already got a pretty good system, really all you need is a GPU upgrade.

The reason I ask is because you're really not going to get much more performance out of any AMD build, you'll need to go for an i5 or i7.

OK, just making sure that you weren't expecting a big upgrade in CPU performance over the 955.

I don't recommend a Crossfire or SLI setup because you'll be better off in terms of performance to save money by not getting multi-GPU gear and just putting it towards and upgrade in a couple of years. You're $500 under budget, so that should be good for 2 GPU upgrade cycles.

Other places to spend some cash include aftermarket cooling and/or and SSD.

If starcraft 2 performance is an important consideration, then core i5/i7 is the way to go. For some reason, SC2 strongly favors the core architecture. SC2 benchmarks by Techspot. With a GTX 480, i5-750@3.8GHz gets an average of 56fps, and phenom ii 965 @ 3.8GHz gets 39fps.

I'm with this. I like putting Blu Ray Burners in my builds now though. If you want one, get one. It certainly can't hurt anything right?

I don't think the OP asked for a Blu-ray burner, but if he wants one, it certainly wouldn't hurt anything (except the budget!).

Yeah, I just like HD movies . It's not of great importance otherwise. I'm not trying to leave the impression that he needs it.
