Anyone remember this band? I've listened to just a few of their songs, but the bass work is incredible. Any suggestions for a good album of theirs to get?

"Fragile" was YES's "breakout" album. It defined their sound. They were "musicians-musicians" akin to the likes of one of my favs, Steely Dan. Not in style, but in mastery of the instruments.

Coo'.

Geez, this is one of the best classes I've ever taken... American Pop Music... so cool. We just finished up today, through reggae and funk. I'm into 60's and 70's music now... it's fun.

If you like Yes, then you should hear their reunion album (unfortunately one member was a holdout and wouldn't let them use the name). Its under the group name Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe. And the fragile album is good, but I actually like all their albums. If you want an obscure band with musician's musicians in it look for a band called Gentle Giant. I wish I still had my albums, but they were given up for rent in a bad month many years ago.

My two favorites are Fragile and (most of) 90125. "Hold On" is a great song.

Jon & Vangelis - Friends of Mr. Cairo
was a great side project of Jon Anderson with Vangelis (Charriots of Fire, etc.) -- you might recognize "State of Independence" form the Chrissie Hynde cover of it.

Albums for Gentle Giant - I liked most of them. Octopus was one of my favorites though, with "Think of me with kindness" and "Raconteur Troubadour".
