An ambiguous set of drivers for the wrong mouse brought it to life. It's almost a mystery mouse- it's got a big IBM logo on it, closely resembles the IBM Scrollpoint Pro- but it isn't. There's no mention of IBM on the sticker, and it says it's made for MICRO Innovations, whose product page doesn't carry it. Retailers carry it under several different brands. It didn't work under XP drivers on this machine, it worked under a different set of IBM drivers under W2000 on my laptop, and it worked sporadically with XP drivers on my last machine. Now though, a driver pack meant of distribution with new PCs packaged with the Scrollpoint Pro is making it work.
