My interview went very very well today. I got a call back from Steve before I even got home. I couldn't reach him back, though. I'll be working for Advanced Military Technologies (AMT). I'll have my own office and my own phone line. :D

I'll be building PCs (fullfilling incoming orders) from scratch, maintaining PCs that come in from customers who need routine maint., and making house calls to larger customers who require on-site maintenance. Fvck yeah, this is awesome. I'll be making minimum wage and part time to start, but at least it's a job. Plus, if I do a good job, I'll be moved to full time and I'll get a raise and bonus every year. :)

AMT does business mainly with local, state, and the federal governments. Plus I'll get a wholesale discount on hardware :cool:

<edit>

I got a call back from Steve this morning. I'M IN!! See new post for details.

At minimum wage? I guess management finally realized there's a huge pool of young computer geeks who LIKE doing that stuff.

/waves goodbye to high-payed computer work

Minimum wage in Oregon is $5.15? And you'll be working part time?

I hope you have another job and are doing this for a second income, or you live with your parents.

Minimum wage in Oregon is more than $7/hr but I don't remember exactly. I'm currently living with my parent, yes.

I wouldn't wave goodbye yet. Pay is always lower when you work for someone else.

During my first few years of school, instead of getting a part time job for spending money, I put in a cheap classified in the big metro paper advertising computer work at $25/hour, and I never had a problem finding at least a 2 hours of work a day on average. And everyone paid cash/check.

And all it took was a $10/week classified ad.

Now granted it wasn't steady work like Nik just got, but I made my own hours, and I made almost four times minimum wage.
