hence the 'suspensions' I dont think colleges would suspend a student for a crap gpa.

Actually they do. 2 quarters with a below 2.00 cumulative GPA = suspension. Once I make up my last 2 F's, I will easily have at least a 2.5 or higher.

Better find a school that accepts grade replacements in figuring transfer GPAs. I hope you dont have any plans to attend a top 100 university. The list of Universities in the top 100 that wont count the F's for repeated courses is scant.

That shouldn't be hard considering that is 100% of them. A transfer degree = a transfer degree based on the CC criteria. The GPA of that transfer degree will always transfer over and be the exact same.

Nope. Even with a degree they will calculate your GPA based on their own methodology, which for most of the top 100 schools, they count all grades even those in courses you repeated. Because your transcript still has the grade on it, just has a line through it and is not counted by your JuCo.

Now tier 3 and 4 schools, they have no problem with grade replacements. Most(not all) tier 1 and 2 do, regardless the fact you obtained an AA or AS.

I suppose if I was shooting for a top university and trying to get into a tough program, things would be differenent :)

However, I think it must be said that I plan on going to like Central or Eastern Washington University. Should I be worried?

Depends on the school, JuCos yes. However, a lot of Universities require a 2.25.

Good to know. What kind of program were you trying to get into at Texas btw? That's really odd, because I know guys who were accepted into UW's engineering program with a 3.0 from a JC.

What's a GPA? Can it be compared to a % score of A B C like you get elsewhere in the world?

College of Liberal Arts, Department of Political Science and/or Economics. It has one of the top Political Science programs in the nation.

I really did give a bad example though because U of Texas is required to admit any highschool student that finished in the top 10% of his/her class. These students make up 75% of UT's entering students each fall. I dont recall the number of transfer students the admit(its somewhere between 1500-2500), but I do know a fairly significant portion comes from Univ of Texas System schools.

I really don't think there is an excuse for such a low GPA unless you work and go to school (as I do). On other note, I am pretty damn sure my GPA is going down the drain this semester (and I am a senior too ...figures), mainly because my AI class is kicking my ass ( the first class that I have ever taken that I took the midterm and thought I did really well and ended up flunking it...for god sakes I freaking learned how neural networks work!...and there was something else on the midterm...I guess I didn't prepare enough for it). At least I'll get to graduate with 2 years of work experience in my industry :D

Regards

ng

PS:I haven't given up yet on AI, I will do my best to bring up my grade (the class is awesome too, the professor is good too)

I work around 35 hours a week and I still feel that I have more time to study, which I should. ALthough, I'd easily have a 4.0 if tuition were free :)

By the time I dropped out (after 4 semesters in 2000) I had a 1.61 GPA in college.

I was either at work or drinking, I never made it to class, and I never studied.
If you want your degree and you want to be in college, bust your ass and earn it. Do not "pull a burnitdwn" and slack off every chance you get.
If you don't want to be in college, and you don't want to earn your degree, drop out, it's a waste of your time and money to stick around.

Halfassing it doesn't work so well like it used to back in high school.

I personally regret not dropping out sooner, though I am glad I went at all, as I did have a hell of a lot of fun, I just wasn't very productive.

i hung around a 2.3 for a LONGGG time... improved to 2.7 by the time i graduated (3.0, 3.3, 3.8, 4.0) in consecutive semesters... but with all of that said, yeah, 2.0 blows!

No, thats only if you are in grad school or if your University is retarded for undergrad. Some grad programs its possible to have above a 4.0.

4.0 = A = 90
3.0 = B = 80
2.0 = C = 70
1.0 = D = 60
