I just started out in January, grinding micros at Pokerstars & Party. After a lot of Sklansky study and 2+2.com reading I played live for the first time in March. Since then I have been frequenting the local casinos here in SoCal, playing 2/4 and now 3/6 hold em. I'm starting to whore bonuses online like nobody's business.

Since I started I've been to Commerce, Bicycle, Normandie, Hollywood Park, Hawaiian Gardens, San Manuel, Pechanga, Ocean's 11, Crystal Park, and my favorite, Hustler.

I have a lot to learn but I am happy to have achieved my first goal. Of course I may go on a major downswing but I'll take that as it comes. Next goal is $2400 so I can comfortably play 4/8 live.

I don't know man, you have a twisted sense of priority. I would spend those time to enrich myself with something relevant to my job future.

don't you have any hobbies? I have a decent-paying engineering job. on the side I am studying to be a flight instructor with the goal of finding some kind of flying job. believe me, if that ever happens I will need poker to supplement my income.

I went up to $600 profit in online in a week..

started with $100, played a few $10 SNG's won, played a $22 buy in 50 person SNG and won, $300

then ground out profit on $10 SNG's ROI was like 30% for 100 games, so thats another $300 profit

but i have to study for the ccna so i cashed out

you just called it a hobby and said you will need poker to supplement your income in the same breath....

After losing $200 with AA and another $200 in bad beats, all within 2 weeks of play a while back, i would never rely on poker to supplement my income.... sure, law of averages, but still... you can have down months.... and months...

Exactamundo, you have quite a busy life going on already. Think about with the 500+ hours you spent to "learn poker", you could have used it on your more practical goal of studying to become a flight instructor? This whole poker craze is starting to bug me. I never consider gambling to be a hobby and I never will. Casual poker play with your friends and what not is fun and game as long as it is the mean to achieve an end. But when you are hopping casinos and addicted to online poker, you have a problem.

I enjoy some good games of holdem. I was playing about once or twice a week before deploying. In my lifetime, I'm way up on house games, and down a few hundred in a casino. I wasn't quite ready at the time. I'm sure I'll continue to play as I grow older, and have more entertainment funds at hand.

Umm, no moron, its called odds.. if you go in with far better than 50/50 odds, and play enough, you will come out on top... this is ignoring feel or reads or guts

AA will win over most hands 4 out of 5 times.... so it is wise to go all in pre flop with them... if they fail you a few times, you dont stop doing it... the odds are still way in your favor.

Think before you speak.

okay dipshlt, since you think you are such a hot player...

your previous outcomes are irrelevant to future outcomes--the law of averages and "odds", tells you about probability, not actual outcomes.

even if you have 2 weeks, 2 years, 200 years of bad beats, your probability of winning the next hand is the same.

so, next time you decide to get on your ignorant high horse, you'd better be sure you know what you're talking about. asshat.

Where did I say that my previous outcomes changed my future odds, I simply stated, keep playing with better than 50 50 odds, and you should come out on top in the long term.... If you lose 10 in a row with 4 to 1 odds.... your next time around it is still 4 to 1, but you ARE far more likely to win 10 times in a row with 4 to 1 odds than you are to lose

even if you have 2 weeks, 2 years, 200 years of bad beats, your probability of winning the next hand is the same.

Good job Captain Obvious!

I know exactly what I'm talking about, but I think you are putting words in my mouth just to disagree with me
