Just swapped out my Duron 600 (that peaked out at 900MHz) for a Duron 700. Penciled over the L1 bridges, applied a little thermal compound and went to town! 😀

It's on a KT7 mobo with a Cooler Master DP5-6H11 Heatsink/Fan.

I'll run it like this for a couple of hours and then see if I can take it any higher.

This morning I ran for awhile at 1050MHz but it after 15 minutes it crashed. Heat doesn't seem to be the cause; CPU temp was 49C.

jinsonxu: 1.85 volts.

Here's the latest: it appears that I'm now running okay at 1050MHz (10.5 x 100). I knew temps weren't the problem but suspected the 128MB stick of OEM RAM I bought yesterday at the computer show might be causing me problems. (I hadn't even planned to buy it in the first place but for $66....)

Anyway it must not have been getting along with my 128 stick of NEC RAM. I pulled the new stick and voila... 1.05GHz and no crashes. 😀

Thanks, SmackdownHotel. I'd certainly like to take it higher but I still get a Windows Protection Error when I boot up at 1.1GHz. Tell me about the Cooler Master heatsink/fan. Is it really that crappy? It's approved by AMD.

Sign me up too🙂 Have not done a lot of stability testing but 1G seems all right. Running at 950 right now. Maybe with the help of a few patches I might be able to fly at 1G permanently!

Dan, the Coolermaster HSF is decent if you don't plan on o/cing, but obviously you're having no problems with it so that's cool. I just would have never thought that you could have o/ced a Duron that high without a top notch cooler. Congrats again on hitting the g-spot, feels good, eh?

Got my system up the weekend... A $44 Duron 600, stable at 1000mhz!! So far... Cpu temp only 35c after running 3D Mark for 20min. Of course I have a GlobalWin FOP38, LOUD sum-biatch, but it cools! Also used Artic Silver and a conductive pen on the bridges... WOOHOO! God Bless AMD!
