So I've been working for Apollo Group doing help desk for the past month and one of my coworkers drinks a South American tea called mate (pronounced mah-tay). Last week I asked him to grab me a kilo and a bombilla (a straw with a filter at the end). For only $10 I got the kilo of mate and a bombilla. My first taste of it was horrible! However, like all things I had to try it again to see. Well, I'm now addicted to the stuff. It is very envigorating and the flavor is growing on me. Anyway, give it a try!
 
Oh yeah I knew I heard yerba mate before...I learned about it and the special straw in spanish class in college or HS

Yeah the thread on bodybuilding.com from what I can tell has left out a crucial preparation step in it. These guys are burning their mate. You have to soak it in cool/lukewarm water for about 5 minutes so you get a paste going otherwise the mate tastes even worse.
