$573 can be yours
How much is Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon worth? Not nearly as much as Osama bin Laden, apparently. Doubtless taking its cue from the U.S. government's offer of a $25 million reward for the capture of bin Laden "dead or alive" -- in President Bush's words -- the Yemeni Chamber of Trade and Industry in Sada, north of the capital Sanaa, has offered a bounty to anyone who kills Sharon, according to Nadhir Mohammed Hasan, the Chamber's vice-president. The amount is hardly likely to divert any bounty hunters that might be looking for bin Laden: the Yemenis are offering a mere $573. The sum is part of the proceeds from a fundraiser among Sada's businessmen. Other funds would go to helping Palestinian refugees from the shattered Jenin camp. As an added incentive, Hasan announced that the chamber would build a house for the successful assassin.
