I'll be heading to Yellowstone in a few weeks for a family reunion. We're staying right outside the part on the west side. There will be lots of kids around of various ages.

I'm not that lazy; I'll be doing some research on my own, but I bow down to the collective experience of the OT crowd. I welcome any and all suggestions.

I suppose we'll be out doing a fair bit of hiking and exploring. I'll be looking for helicopter tours cuz I think that would be cool.

The west side of Yellowstone has most of the fun stuff to look at. The east side of the circle has the nice waterfalls and you're more likely to see a bear or two. The south side has a beautiful lake and Old Faithful (Must get ice cream from the visitor's center there, it is soooo good). The north side has the mammouth hot springs and some fun shopping.

West Yellowstone (the city) is pretty fun to walk around and shop at. Lots of good places to eat, but I can't remember their names. There is also a really nice KOA campground west of West Yellowstone that has some nice cabins with two rooms and one queen bed and two sets of bunk beds. Also has a nice pool a facilities, but it sounds like you already have a place to stay arranged.

Enjoy the trip! I love Yellowstone.

EDIT: If you get a chance, it is well worth it to take the trip down to Jackson Hole. Absolutely beautiful scenery and a great town to walk around and shop in.

I love Yellowstone, and hope to make another trip (my fifth) this august/sept. I recommend seeing the Lamar River Valley, great wildlife viewing opportunities (wolves if you are really lucky, and I saw a grizzly once) along the road. Whatever you do, don't be one of those tourists who walks up to the bison like they are just a cow - I haven't seen anyone get gorged or trampled yet, but they've been asking for it a couple times.
