My sister was resmoothing the walls a year after blow in insulation, and after applying DAP wallboard joint compound a weird yellow ring appeared on only one part of it near the corner of a room.

Any ideas what could cause this? it looks like it could be following the hole that was drilled a year ago, but she says there wasn't anything noticeable when she applied the joint compound
the paint is a glidden forest green semigloss acrylic? interior paint

Happens a lot in older houses when patching. For some reason the plaster or joint compounds pull stain marks like litmus. Just prime it and move on.
