Yellow Monitor!

Lately my montior has become discolored. Every once in a while, the white turns yellow; sometimes it will
turn back on it's own, sometimes I have to unplug everything and reboot, sometimes the unplug+reboot
doesnt work.

This is a relatively new CRT: Hewlett Packard 17inch. I got it this summer. I have verified that the problem is
the monitor, not the video card.

What can I do about this? Do I turn the CRT upside down or on it's side?

Please reply!

If the monitor cable is removable try changing it, if not look at the pins to see if any are bent on the cable.

Very likely it is a a loose cable. The same thing happened to me before and it was that the cable was loose.

not just loose pins or even bent pins, the actual wire inside could be frayed. Before you go and anything drastic you should try a new monitor cable.

Thanks for the replies!

Its problably under warranty, but I dont have the reciept so it wont do me much good.

Ive already verified that the monitor cable is not the cause of the problem.

Any other ideas?

you are an odd guy. No receipt? "Probably under warranty"???
Did you pay for it with a credit card? That helps.
Not a burglar are you?

I used to work for a HP reseller. Just call your local HP dealer and they can order you a new one. Your bill should not be needed. Just give them your serial Number and a date of about when you got it.

Also, you'll find a manufacture date on the back sticker. That normally works when you are talking to the manufacturer without a receipt. It was probably made a few months before you bought it, so you effectively lose a few months of warranty, but it better than nothing!
