Yellow jackets??

So I just got stung on the neck by a yellow jacket. Inside my office, in the middle of January. How does this happen?? Shouldn't they be dead or hibernating or something?

Maybe it was hibernating and got brought into the office somehow and warmed up enough to come out of it.

The one thing I have learned is insects never die. We still have mosquitos here - we can have a blizzard and the darn things are still around.

Here where I live. It's a nice 50 degrees. Usually around this time it's single digits. While it is uncommon to see yellow jackets, it wouldn't surprise me the least bit.

but on a good note, since it's so warm, we're saving a sh!t load on home heating costs! suck that heating company.

i got stung by one last summer on the side of my knee. a few hours later i didnt feel so good and took a nap, when i woke up I could not bend my knee, the pain was like Sammy Sosa used my knee to knock a home run. guess i am alergic to them.

and i have a small scar where the SOB got me. :|

I got stung by one right in the middle of my chest when I swatted it off my nephew's head. He didn't know but got too close to their nest and one came after him. After I swat it off of him the little mf came after me and got me right in the chest. All I felt was a slight sting with swelling similar to an ant bite. They're some agressive little insects.

When it got up to 60+ degrees (it's already been 10 below), I noticed some activity by my honeybees.
