yellow dog linux for pc?

I doubt it. Terra Soft specializes in ppc support.

As kamper said their niche is PPC machines so it's doubtful that they have releases for any other CPU.

The closest your going to get will be Fedora Core. It essentially going to be the same if I am not mistaken. The biggest difference is that maybe some versions of yellowdog use enlightenment were as Fedora is going to use Gnome by default, but that can be rectified.

Otherwise you can wait till you get a Playstation 3 and then Yellowdog will run fine on that.

Fedora is just as powerful as any other distribution of Linux. I don't like the way they do some things, but it's all opinion.

Why don't you grab one of the Live CDs like Knoppix or the Ubuntu installer and try them first? They'll be slower than a normal install but will give you an idea of what you're getting yourself into without potentially messing up your current setup.

I've already tried a few distro's but always ended up going back to windows because it was either easier or I didn't have enough space on one drive.

No offense but then why do you think YDL will be any different for you?

I guess I have a bad case of curiosity and I like to experiment.

That's fine, but a safer way to go about it would be to stick to either LiveCDs or VMWare/VPC. That way you can experiment all you like without risk of breaking your current setup.
