My dad is at the National rifle matches at Camp Perry, Ohio. He just called me to tell me that he bought 3 M-1 Garands for $400 a pop. Usually these things cost about $1400 bucks. Oh, this is so sweet.

$1400? Maybe for one that is in top shape with a TE < 2, but the ones at Perry are 'rack grade' and their TEs are generally near EOL @ >4. Functional, yes, but don't expect tack drivers, and the stocks will be pretty rough.

I'd say you could re-sell for ~500, so you might have saved about $100 per rifle. I've been to CP many times, great place. I was on the waiting list 3 years for my unissued Garand back in the day they did that sort of thing. I also got a Springfield through the DCM way back when.

Yeah, like the guy said, they're in rack condition, but my dad knows some people at Weapons Trainging Battalion onboard Quantico MCB who are going to fix them up so that they're almost like new. Should be fun, but they kick like a frickin mule.
