Yeah, so, apparently at some point in the past, I became an old person.

I was rummaging through my desk drawer and noticed that I had saved a broken rubber band.

Also, the use of the verb rummaging is also an indication of advanced age.

Saved or simply not bothered to throw out?

And was it broken when you decided to save it?

There's middle-aged people thinking they're old when their voice or muscles haven't gone yet but their looks are all gone .

Then there's the really old they don't realize is coming.

In order for my "looks" to be gone I would have had to HAVE them in the first place!

;)

Keep all that stuff. You never know when you might need it.
~8mo I put a broken plant pot in the garage. Ceramic, bottom broke out in the winter from freezing. A half hour ago I went out, broke it into quarters, dremeled off the sharp edges, and put the pieces in my terrarium for my lizards' makeshift hides.

Never throw away ANYTHING.

What's next . . .

dithering over where the potted plant looks best?

marveling at the handy features of your new flashlight?

If you still have a plastic bin filled with every adapter for every piece of electronics you've ever bought sitting in the back of a closet.....

you're definitely trending old.

But I am saving the environment! Otherwise all the PCB will end up in your drinking water.

No potted plants when you have cats.

I do like the handy features of my fleshlight. It's MSHA approved for hazardous atmospheres when I want to go in deep..

I'll have you know that I got rid of the parallel printer cable!

Don't ask me about the pre-PCIe RS-232 serial port add-in cards.

Garage actually, and it's a few pullout drawers and a knee-high cabinet. Last year a gtx 465? went to a cousin for his first computer build, and I had to fish through a handful of adapters/cables to find the right arcane mix to connect a new-ish macbook to an old monitor I had, also in the garage, for my BIL.

I've also made use of countless leftover screws, bolts, washers, and whatever else from all the random shit from China that's arrived at my household.

I have a spare toilet.
Hey, so do I.

Know what else? I turned an old toilet tank into a planter. Got shot down by the GF for turning the old bowl into a planter though, 'looks too much like a toilet' she said.

The old, old neighborhood had someone who had the toilet bowl planter going on.

In the yard, not sure if that's implied, but now it's explicit.

Ha, I repurpose a lot of building materials but you've got me on that one.
