I realize this thread is going to be flamebait for my fan club, so have fun you worthless bastards. I need to get this crap out.

So yeah. my mother's entire life consists of being hauled from place to place by 3 people. Not a single joint below her waist is capable of more than a few degrees of movement. She can't stand. She can't even SIT normally. She can't control her bladder, so whereever we put her, there has to be a few layers of plastic and towel under her ass, plus depends (those things are the most WORTHLESS crap EVER, they don't hold JACK).

It just so happens that I'm the only other person home right now (save my half-sister's two utterly worthless children), and her ass just slipped off the couch. That means that it's my responsibility to haul her back onto the couch, which is usually a 3-man job because of her immobility. Naturally, she's screaming bloody murder and protests EVERYWHERE I put my hands or apply pressure because every square inch of her body is in pain at all times. Her bones are so brittle that I can't apply any leverage to get her up, either. In short, she's staying on the goddamn floor for the next 5 hours until I get some fvcking help.

Now, the obvious solution here is "Put her in a nursing home." As much as we'd all love to, we can't, unless I'm willing to sacrafice my education because the insurance company refuses to pay for it because she's not disabled enough. Yeah, SHE'S NOT DISABLED ENOUGH. Keep in mind that this is the very same insurance company that paid out OVER $100,000 for her last year. I don't think they're keen on making that any higher.

She can't collect social security, either, because "her problems do not interfere with her ability to work" (actually, upon further examination of the SS Disability rules, it's much more likely that her repeated denial is based upon "Generally, you need 40 credits, 20 of which were earned in the last 10 years ending with the year you become disabled. "

Of course, she's been incapable of working for the past 10 years, and as such hasn't done so, but don't tell the SSA that. Back when this crap first went down, she had plenty enough credits, but nobody was planning on permanent disability. By the time we realized this wasn't going to be temporary and she actually applied for SS Disability, it was 5 years later. We were actually planning to bring suit against the SSA and insurance companies, but decided against it because, frankly, it would cost more to fight, and she'd be dead by the time everything was said and done (and suing your insurance company is a damn good way to make sure that getting any money out of them will become about 50 billion times harder)

So, basically, short of walking upstairs and shooting her in the goddamn face, there's nothing that can be done.

Reason I'm making this post is because I'm sitting here being driven insane by her screams of pain that I can't do a goddamn thing about. Could call 911, but ambulance rides and hospital stays cost money, money that the insurance co has refused to pay in the past because there was "no threat of imminent death or severe injury".

So, nef, flame, lock, etc. away. Just don't PM me your sympathy. I hate that sh!t. I'm gonna go take a shower and change clothes and try to get the smell of her urine off me.

I'm sure you're upset with having to deal with all the trouble of having a mother in that state, but you sound like an ungrateful bastard IMHO. Many people on these forums would give plenty to have their mothers back, even in the state your mother is in. Cherish the remaining time you have with your mother, even though it may not be all that pleasant.

Yes, the friends who are 200 miles away actually enjoying spring break and the neighbors who are in worse shape than she is.

$40,000 in out-of-pocket expense in the past 3 years with the exact same reasoning from the insurance goons says so. There's nothing unusual in what's going on right now, she's in no worse pain than usual, she's just sitting in a different spot.

Nah, called my brother, he's on his way home from work. Should be able to get her up at that point.

Now, what truly worries me is WTF goes on when NOBODY is around, when we're all in school/working for 6 hours out of the day Monday-Friday.

And her disabilities stem from diabetes, heart disease, complications of numerous medical procedures, a stroke, and about 9.6 billion other conditions that I can't think of offhand.
