In the internet age, it seems that the ultimate sign of intellect is knowing something before everyone else.
Whenever there is a news headline, a new funny image, some video clip, or a good sound bit... it seems to make its way around the net at blazing speed.
When someone tells you a story or shows you one of these nuggets of media, if you have already seen it, do you tell them "Yeah, I already saw that."? If you do, do you do it to show that you are superior?
When someone send me a link or tells me a story, and I have already seen it, I just acknowledge it and move on. I will give them a simple, "haha" or "Thanks!".
Why do some people feel the need to say "I saw that last month dude, that's old." What benefit does that give?
Oh well... I guess knowledge and being up-to-date is the ultimate sign of power.
