Abit NV7M Can't wait until these hit the shelves... I can finally finish my LAN Box... I am a Little confused about the audio spec though... It says it has the nforce MCP and an AC97 Codec on it... Is that normal???

The AC97 compressor/decompressor (CODEC) is for compatibility, not a description of the quality of the sound. The board will have NForce quality sound, which, right now, is a little buggy. I'm curious to see NVidia's new driver set when it is released. I'm pretty sure all onboard audio of any chip is AC97, and, for all I know, sound cards use this standard, as well. Anyone more informed?

Yeah I've been waiting a while for one of these. I already have a BP6 from back in the day, I hope that Abit makes a good bios for this board.
The chipset used is the "420-D"which means it's the dolby digital version. Doesn't make any sense to have to pay more for that chip and then not use it, although I suppose that's what they do with the lan on the mcp.

When is this board coming out?

Yea. January is what Abit told me. Just so you know. The board is planned to be OEM so don't expect any pretty box or extra stuff in the box.

One bad thing I just realized about this board: look at the placement of the usb ports. They come after the parallel ports which could be annoying for people (eg me) that have cases without removable faceplates.

Anybody notice that there's only 2 DIMM's? I'm glad to see somebody taking this route because it will help to allieviate confusion about which DIMM slot is the Bad one.

Here's a link to some info on a microATX nForce board from MSI,
found this on the nForce Forum at MSI. Thread was about some
guy who thought he had bought a MSI K7N420 Pro but was actually
shipped one of these and his confusion upon its receipt!!!
