YEA! How blind are you?

The unit value used to measure the degree of myopia is called Diopters which relates to the power of the spectacle lenses used to correct it. For comparison purposes the average myopic person is approximately - 3.00 diopters ( minus refers to myopia ) The higher the negative number, the higher the degree of myopia.

With high myopia (-6.00 and up) one is at increased risk of glaucoma, retinal detachments and posterior vitreous detachments.

The "Sphere" column indicates how nearsighted or farsighted you are. "Cylinder" refers to the measurable degree of astigmatism of your central cornea. The cylindrical number describes the dioptric difference between your cornea?s steepest and lowest curves.

If you have astigmatism, your cornea is shaped like the back of a spoon, curved more on one side than the other. The orientation of the spoon shape can differ from person to person, for instance like a spoon standing on end or on it?s side. The "Axis" column describes the orientation in degrees from horizontal. Most left and right eyes with astigmatism are symmetrical.

Dayumn.... I had never gotten my prescription and on a whim had it faxed over...

Give the blind dud some love...

Eyes are damn near perfect, hope it stays that way. Likely won't though, Mom, Dad, Sis all have glasses...

Pretty much the same deal for me, and being in front of CRTs all the time probably doesn't help things out.

I have no idea what my prescription is but I know it is not good. My astigmatism is something 95th percentile. 🙁

perfect, or really really close. moms far sighted, dads near sighted 😕 but i'v never had any vision problems.

i hope i get glacoma 😉

-1.5 in both eyes. My prescription hasn't changed since I first got it, in the 7th grade. I'm 24 now. Hope it doesn't get any worse.

From what I'm seeing, I can't get Lasik... I think it is only for up to -6... I wasn't able to find any good info on it so let me know if I'm wrong...

I've always had perfect vision. But in the last few years (I'm 37) I've had a hard time focusing up close.

I just recently bought some ready made reading glasses (1.5 magnification).

I don't recall exactly, but it was around -5.75, last time I saw the numbers actually written out. Hopefully not much worse than that now.

Dunno, was diagnosed with an astigmatism in 8th grade, but I don't wear glasses. It doesn't bother me.

My dad, 13 yr old bro and sister wear glasses. My mom and my 7 yr old bro wear reading glasses, but my mom's been complaining about her eyes. I'm pretty sure I'll need glasses soon, being in front of CRTs all day long (and usually in the dark) can't possibly be good.

-3 right eye -2.75 left eye.

I got glasses after I almost ran over a cop who was standing on the side of the road in the dark.
