I amd a Certified Massage Therapist subleasing a room from a group of surgeons.
When I sent in this months rent for my office, I included a letter requesting that my rent be reduced from $500 a month to $150. I told her that my classmates and my competitors in pay on average 150-200 a month for a room like mine and that I haven't been able to grow my practice. Nearly all of my revenue went for rent and I could not market myself.
The office manager for the docs just called and she said that she got my letter and that my request is valid and not unreasonable. On the 23rd she is having her monthly meeting with the docs and she will bring it up to them to reduce the lease when it is up at the end of Jan. Also, in 2007 the new big hospital that is being built just up the road will be completed and the docs are moving to it, she invited me to move with them. She said the Docs really like having me as a tenate and we have a great relationship. I have never meet them, i see my clients at night and on weekends and i am the only one in the office.
I needed this news, it's the first good news I have had in a long time. Its been a year since i graduated massage school and business wise i am not where i wanted to be. with my rent reduced i can do some very aggressive marketing and get my business where i want it.
