Still haven't beat the magical 10s that the P4s got.
Also notice the new background...thought I would add that for authenticity.
My HDD just died (using an old 160GB now) and this PC is definitely on the way out...this is by no means stable, just enough for pi.
I used to run 400x8 (3.2) all day, but eventually had to drop to 375x8 (3.0), then to 320x9 (2.88). I didn't want to pass ~1.45v before, but figured it'd push it to the extreme before it died for good. Sad thing is there still doesn't appear to be a good replacement.
AMD and Intel both are stuck with [not-so-good] CPUs on outdated sockets (AM3+, S2011) unless I want an overpriced crappy quad core that's 3 years slow.
AM3+ and S2011 are definitely past their prime.
Not entirely sure what the OP is going on about or whether just drunk. But LOL:
I assume this is some sort of general rant thread about the economy or something, or just someone that's generally out of touch with reality when it comes to pricing and technology. I'm probably missing some sort of context here or something.
Oh and I can play Half Life 1 max details at 85hz.
I don't actually recall, but I don't think I was able to max it.
8800 GTS 320MB.
I found you have to force triple buffering for HL2.
System Shock 2 you'll be able to play with max SSAA.
to be honest i cant fault the OP. i only got rid of my q6600 end of last year and it was throttling so bad (running 3 of 4 cores @100C) it was slower than OPs e6600. that cpu, 4gb of ram and an ssd, hell a ati 4850 too would still do for the most part. even light gaming at 720p or so.
at 720p? most games aren't that demanding though. maybe once console ports for the xbone/ps4 come out but not now.
lol what? I could do that on my 8600gt.A 320MB 8800 GTS will choke on more than 2x SSAA in HL2 at 1600x1200.
