The Phillies announced yesterday that they have already sold more than three million tickets for home games this season.

As an intensely loyal and long suffering Phillies fan, I am savoring this several year run amongst the elite before our almost inevitable return to the clammy, moldering abyss.

It's always nice when a typically lower-rung baseball club can turn around and be awesome for awhile.

It does good thing for the local region and economy, and gives reward for suffering so long. Makes the return to the suck far more painful but it's so worth it to watch your team rise.

Looking for the Indians to do something like that one of these years.
If they'd change their strategy of trading away all their awesome players, they might have a chance to get better.

I LOVE Ryan Howard, don't get me wrong, but if the Cards were somehow stupid enough to trade arguably the best position player in all of baseball for him even up the entire city of St. Louis would rise up as one and hunt the Cardinal brain trust down and dismember and perhaps, eat them.

(I'm referring to antics at NBA finals, certain Phillies games, every fucking Flyer and all of their fucking fans, every damn Eagles game (though Michael Irving TOTALLY deserved that booing as he was carted off the field, when he shattered his neck-- :beer: for that one, guys!)...Who am I forgetting?)

This scenario would be great, actually. Almost as great as the actual trade.

I'm sure I've admitted as much on these pages, as I've admitted elsewhere on the internet as well as real life that, while I may not be gay, I would freely indulge in hot man love with Pujols for the better part of an evening. I don't think you'd even have to pay me.

That guy is a stud.

Were the Phillies to besmirch the name of real baseball and join the AL, the Phillies + Pujols would make the Yanks and Red Sox look like little bitches. The upstart Rays would turn around and run back home, just as they are stepping into the limelight (that they certainly deserve), b/c the fear of being in the same park as the Pujols Phillies would be too great.
