this may not matter to many of you, but I haven't had Skittles in over 20 years. This is good news, yay! Sam's Club carries them.. not sure if all of them are going to be like that though.

They can expand their market then, as they would be considered kosher/halal if they are gelatin free.

I for one hope there are other skittles that are double gluten double gelatin. I'd hate for all those poor ingredients to not fulfill their intended purpose.

Who the hell cares? Do they need to sissify everything?

I think it has more to do with allergies. Someone else explain this? Why is it that some people can't eat products with gluten?

Because they were conceived with a weak sperm and if natural selection were still at play they would've been eaten by dingo dogs long ago.

Well a lot of people have pretty severe allergies to gluten...

Isn't that their problem? A lot of people have severe allergies to peanuts, too, but that doesn't mean that JIF should change the formula for their peanut butter.

It seems that people are getting weaker and weaker. When I was a kid you never even heard of all these food allergies.

does it have anything to do with pork?

Gelatin is a product of bone-meal. I think it is just made from any and every body available to the gelatin industry, which includes pigs. I don't recall gelatin having anything to do with pork products, other than the previously mentioned possibility of bone meal.

And no, I can foresee that changing. They simply get bones chips shipped by the truckload, and the overhead required to force bone providers to separate pig bones from the rest is just a worthless concept. It's also one of the perfect industry measures to use every possible square inch of an animal butchered for food. Animals are just stripped of meat and thrown away. Bones get chopped up and used in a few different places, all the spare flesh not used gets turned into a multitude of things, including pet foods, hides are used.... everything is used in most cases.

Its not that people are getting weaker, its that we're getting wiser. Many food allergies and intolerances don't have obvious and immediate effects and thus people can and have lived with them their entire lives.

My dad has celiac disease and he didn't discover this until he had a routine colonoscopy at age 50.

I worked with a muslim a couple years ago who couldn't eat a lot of candy because of the gelatin, which has pig parts in it.

ever put a whole bag of Sour Skittles in your mouth at once? Sorta off topic but I don't advise trying it.

it hurts the roof of the mouth. Just like eating a lot of Warheads back to back or a lot of anything sour. It's not even that the candy is too sour... I just don't get it. The roof of the mouth is raw for like a day. It sucks!

See, this is why I have trouble taking religion seriously. The idea that an omnipotent being cares which animal cells I eat or how I groom my facial hair is a ridiculous notion to me. I couldn't care less about whether or not someone has a beard, and I have to believe if there is an all-forgiving omnipotent being out there that it has bigger fish to to fry.

The topic of gelatin came up at work on Saturday and I was surprised how no one in my office knew where it came from. We were eating some easter candy, some kind of generic Peeps. The ingredients, in order, were: Sugar, HFCS, Corn starch, and gelatin (BEEF). It was written exactly like that, with the BEEF in capital letters in parentheses after gelatin. Needless to say, the candy sat around uneaten for the rest of the day.
