No, it's not in the IT field. :p It's pretty much for the summer, or as long as I choose to keep it. It's full time, 42.5hrs/week, at $10/hr. It's a 2-10:30 shift which I like actually, I get to sleep in. One thing I hate is getting up EARLY. Even if I go to bed early, for some reason getting up early always zombifies me... yet if I get up late i'm fine. So this suits me just perfectly.

Should be good for job experience and I can put it on my resume. I should move out some time this summer, with any luck. Of course i'm going to see how the job goes, if I'll keep it or not, etc. If so then mid-to-late summer, me and two other friends may move out (or just me and one, and then the third next summer). Can't wait. :)

Things I need to do:

-Save up a good few grand for university a couple years from now
-Buy a motorcycle ;)
-Pay back money to people I owe.. :p

lol thx... well for one thing it's biking distance from where I live right now, so that's excellent. It's like a garage type of place, i'll be loading/unloading and doing other things. Basically a fairly physical job, which I'm glad for, because I won't have to pay for a gym. It's exactly the type of work I was hoping to get, next to computer tech. Don't be fooled though, if I get a chance for a comp job I'll jump right on it. And if not, I'll likely be doing tech support on the side for extra cash and experience.

Stick with the blue collar stuff. Don't get sucked into this hell, known as Corporate America. Tech Support is a never ending nightmare. Eventually the computer screen will give you a tumor or something. Stay outside!

Aaaah! Help me!

damn you, I still need a job. Anything. But congrats. :)

But don't those hours suck? You won't be able to meet up with friends until like 11PM, whereas if they work a normal job, you don't have much time to do anything.........sounds nice and simple of a job, but those hours really amaze me.

Maybe that's just cuz I have a g/f, and we'd never see each other.

edit: Sorry, I hope that didn't sound offensive, it wasn't meant to be, but I realized after posting it that it might sound as such. :)

Yeah. Swing shift rules... I loved not having to go to work until 2:30 and getting off at 11:30. :)

I used to work swing shift, 2:00 to 10:30 in a stockroom. It was nice a nice shift. All the managers and other people were gone by 5:30, and it was just me and a friend of mine (who got me the job) from that time until 10:30. Damn we did a lot of crap there. :) If the bosses knew some of the things we did, we could have been fired like 20 times. :) We always got our work done though.

Exactly. :) All the supervisors went home at around 4:30 - 5.. so it was just real laid back.. and fun.. haha...

I always managed to have at least the last hour of work as "free time", to listen to loveline.. Haha.. See, where I worked.. i tested electromagnetic parts, and the parts would come to me.. 50 in a tray(with sometimes 12-16+ trays to test :Q)

I'd have XXX time to test a tray.. Well, fortunately.. for most parts.. they gave you WAY more time than it took, lol.. so when I got into work, I'd figure out what I had to do.. sometimes I would have 2-3, even 4 hours to just .. do nothing.. haha.. It was cool. I wish I wouldn't have gotten laid off. Doing the parts in the time they alotted meant your efficency was 100%. That means you're not losing them money.. but you're not really making them any money, either. If you're above 100%, they like you cause you're making them money.. If you're below 100%.. don't expect to stick around too long.. lol.. I kept mine at around 105%...

When I first got there, I was like a monster... I could have had an efficency of like 140%.. But they look for that, and they'll change the time spec on the parts if you can do them super fast... lol.. And people were like.. dude, slow down.. you don't need to do that.. haha

It was a cool job.

Congrats man. I just got myself a new one today. Working part time driving buses. May not be the most glamorous job, but I enjoyed the time I spent there this afternoon. It was a great day, I passed my license for buses at 2, got called at 3 with a job offer. Hopefully things continue to work like this :)

You don't get jack off working retail. I worked at Kmart for a year and hated just about every minute of it. I had to work the evening shift on the Fourth of July. No fireworks for me that year. That was pretty lame at the time. The only day the store was closed was Christmas Day and it was open until like 8 or 9 on Christmas Eve. So much for spending time with the family. Oh ya, I had to work at 6 AM Easter Sunday, too. Bleh. :)
