yeah... last time i did this was back in 1997, when i was being cheap, so i burned my sister a bunch of songs on cd for her birthday gift 😛

btw, i'm burning at 1x becuz it's an ext usb1.1 burner, and the lady who this drive belongs to says she gets errors when burning cd's. hoping throttling the speed from a zippy 4x to a pokey 1x might do the trick.

I used to have to burn CD's alot at 1x. Back in the days when burners were not very reliable. About 20% of the time I'd get a coaster!

even at 1x, u get coasters?

If it's happening w/ different media, I'd say it sounds like the burner has bit the dust. Any chance it's a full size drive in a USB Case? If so, try another drive just to validate.

Anyway, should go to tech support forum for that type of stuff, but, I had to burn some CD's at slower speeds (4x) for use in our Car MP3 player. Was a cheap unit we bought from Circuit City and has trouble reading data off discs burned at higher speeds... well that's the theory so far and it seems to be holding up.

That's cuz it's a crappy car mp3 player.

Why do you say that? I have been having problems with burning cd's with my lite on 48x burner and I have an nforce2 and I get the same error. Is there something I dont know?
