Woo hoo! Games for me to play :D

Can't decide on what to get (first).

For all you PS2 owners out there, what are you going to get first (if you plan on getting any of them that is)?

EDIT:
From ebgames.com
>Xenosaga: Ships on 02/25/2003
>.hack//INFECTION: Ships on 02/11/2003 (also a $5 rebate to go with it)

Not sure about .hack. Xenosaga is supposed to be pretty good.

Since there are supposed to be 4 .hack games, and since they're selling in Japan, I'll take it it's quite decent...hopefully.

.hack is an RPG about an MMORPG called "The World"

In other words, you play like you're online, but you're not. Rather, you are able to switch between playing in "The World" and going back to your desktop. IIRC, you can check your e-mail, change the background of your desktop and a few other things.

The game seems unique because of this, which is what makes me interested seeing if it turns out good or not.

<---- not much $$$...can't buy both xenosaga and .hack at the same time :(

Going to buy both. Xenogears was an amazing RPG and, since my friend beta tests video games, I've heard that Xenosaga is going to be something I will REALLY enjoy. Oh man I can't wait.

Xeno* RULES :)

Gears was great, I'll play Saga but I don't think I can expect it to be quite as good... it is a prequel right?

Word I need a job before I can splurge and get a ps2 or a gamecube. I'm surprised .hack is out earlier than XenoSaga...

I have an xbox so I can't get any of those games, but I would like to... I wish they would release games to all systems rather than making us go and buy every system taht there is... they should have one system that incorperates every system into it. I might be getting a ps2 sometime this year so if I do I will probably get both games, .hack looks pretty cool, if it is anything like the anime.

I am glad to see that anime isn't overwhelmingly popular here. I really have no idea what the attraction is but there are forums chock full of people who just worship that stuff with I find very ininteresting. The fact that almost every anime series has a 7 year old girl as the star is disturbing let alone people who love anime think that a show should never be dubbed because English ruins it, it has nothing to do with the fact that bad voice acting takes away anything.

I watched a few eps of .hack/sign and my reaction? Blargh... :p
Didn't really grab my severely short attention span... now if they make a game based on the new Ghost in the Shell series... that would be cool! :)

Saw the game... looked like most PS2 anime games... kinda bland. But then how many games really have replay value on a PS2?

Mad assumptions:
1.Most good anime series do not have a 7 year old girl as the star. That would be most BAD anime series.
2.Most people like subbing because when anime gets dubbed in america they use these c-rated voice actors who couldn't get on the set of pee-wee herman's great adventure as an extra. Where in Japan they get their best voice actors for some of these shows.

The anime wasn't good. Infact it was crap. The game is supposed to be very good though.

I've played the japanese version of both games (well the first three .hack games. I don't know if the fourth one is out yet).

Xenosaga isn't a game. It's a movie that pretends to be a game. There were more cut sceens than actual game play and the story is far from finished. Xenosaga is suppose to be a multipart game however they haven't even started on the second part yet. Not good. It was a big disappointment for me since I was a very big Xenogears fan. Some people may like the game for it's free roaming camera and girls with short dresses for them to look up. Some might even enjoy the half-story the game provides you with, but I just found frustration. Don't take my word on it though. Play the game and see how you like it. Just be sure not to get your heart set on getting the full story from the game.

As for .hack, this one was pretty fun. The best part about the game was how difficult some of the monsters are. I'm a person who doesn't find the new Final Fantasy games enjoyable since I can walk through the entire game without trying to level (at least FFX forced you to level in order to kill all of the creatures in the arena). In .hack, they force you to level to face the regular bosses. That's all I need to enjoy the game. Also the plot becomes interesting by the second game. The game was packaged with an anime in Japan. The anime explained the back story about what the "real" people were doing outside of the game. It added a bit of depth to the gameplay since you get to know the charactrs better without having to add in drawn out cutsceens.

Of the two games I prefer .hack. Xenosaga just felt like a big let down for me as a Xenogears fan. I hope that the second Xenosaga helps to flesh out the game a bit. I also hope for more gameplay and less movie.

My girlfriend can read japanese. I spent two years in Japan and can read a good portion of japanese characters. All Hiragana and Katakana and most standard Kanji. Why do you ask?

Just thought I'd bring a conclusion to this game, it will not be a blackbuster. How do I know? I received a 7.0 on Gamespot. Gamespot is wrong sometimes but they are never wrong on blockbusters and 7.0 is way below what they'd (Greg Kasavin) give a game that they ever wanted to play again. I knew a few people (yeah, they were all anime freaks) who were excited about this game (considering the source of the fanfare, I don't know if that means anything) but it looks like this game will not meet their expectations as being great.
