First i was actually leaving work and an old lady hit me and i got $800 out of the deal for a new bumper

Second time i was parked in metered "parallel parking" spaces and someone was kind enough to run into my "rear end" several times, leaving nice scrapes and an imprint of their license plate bracket.

now today, i take my car out for lunch and look down and notice someone parking next to me swiped the side of the bumper, leaving some nice long deep scrapes and lots of white and gray paint.

So....i look up, and not 20 feet away i is a security camera (i was in parking garge this time).

So...i contact the garage..they say see security...i contact security..they say i need to call the town police...so i call the police...next thing i know i'm driving all the way up 6 levels in the back of a cruiser to take a report.

Only THEN, does someone say "ok, we can look at the tape"

right now i'm waiting for a call..I know the 2 hour time frame it happened in...so i am just sitting and waiting....

what a PITA just to look at the stupid tape. it's not like i could do anything even if i saw who's car it was...i just wanted to know if the camera caught it at all. Time wasted = Over an hour.

anyway, that's my story. i hate all other drivers btw...

Yeah I can relate. I have gotten far too many dings, scratches and dents from public parking. It's amazing how these people got their license when they cannot even park in these OVERSIZED lots my parking garage has. I oftentimes consider welo close will get their piece of sh!t car gouged out and maybe even impailed, and would have to wait for me to come back and call the police. I'd rather these assh0les get thrown in jail than some bloke smoking mary jane in some alley minding his own business

I have oversized tires on my Jeep ..

I've never had a ding or dent from another vehicle in 15 years.
(while parked)

So,,, go get yourself some tires that exceed the body of the car :p

Opps ... forgot to mention .. If someone 'bumps' the tires while driving ... be ready for whiplash on steering wheel :p

I've resigned myself to getting dinged and scraped, but then my car is 10 years old and I'm not too concerned with what it looks like anymore. If I see one of those spots where some jerk has decided he needs two spots for his shiny new expensive car, I'll go out of my way to take 5 minutes to ease my nice big Volvo in the 3/4 of a spot they hoped no one would bother to park in. I love the mental image of them climbing over the passenger side, and pray every time that they're giving someone a ride home so they're all embarassed by the fact that I'm parked smack in the middle of the lines and they're still right on top of me.

Sorry, nothing pisses me off more than that. Though having some moron behind the wheel take half my bumper off because they don't know the turning radius on their car is probably second in line. Then again, with a Volvo if they hit my car they'll do more damage to their own car than mine.
