So Padres pitcher James Shields will go down in history as the guy who served up a meatball that 42 year old, 280+ pounds Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon took out for a HR. The dude took 30+ seconds just to do his HR trot, which is just 5 seconds faster than the slowest recorded trot and that dude pulled his hamstring rounding first base.

Here's some prime examples of the Babe Ruthian hitting skills of the immortal Bartolo Colon.

Heh, good for him.
He looks like Peter Griffin trying to baseball.

I love watching Colon pitch. One of the only guys in the Majors who throws harder in the 7th than he did in the first. Takes 2-3 innings for his legs to warm up.

Fifth oldest to get a home run, and I believe also the oldest to get his FIRST home run.

Was he supposed to hold onto the bat while he ran around the bases? That doesn't seem right.

He normally holds onto the bat since typically he just grounds out and heads straight for the dugout. The dude carries the bat even for extra base hits like where he legs out this double, but I bet the HR bat will be a keeper for his collection though.

The dude is a hoot to watch and I hope he doesn't decide to retire for another few years.

The first pic reminded me of Chris Farley as John Kruk. lol

OH man, when he realizes he is in the wrong city for the WS and Kevin Nealon informs him that Toronto won....

Kruk is an awesome dude, though. One of the seasons early in his career, in AA or AAA, he lived in a trailer in the stadium parking lot, or just out behind the stadium (I forget the team). He had a 24-hour open door policy, where anyone in town could just drop by and hang out with him over many beers for however long and chat.

Yeah, colon was actually popped for roids before. Then he tried stem cell therapy on his arm with the angels (which is a grey area). All of sudden he was throwing 96 again. It was unreal. So good things can come out of roids I guess if done right. No way in hell he's throwing 96 again just because of "stem cell therapy" which isn't even proven to work.

colon reminds me of the little tugboat who could.

Prince Fielder and David Ortiz obviously subscribe to the Colon school of power hitting.

Also, holy crap on the Reds bullpen being like record breaking bad, worst ever since 1961 terrible. When you allow a run scored in 23 straight games you know you're John Travolta in Battlefield Earth kind of bad.

Reds bullpen stats and ranks, 1961-present

ERA: 6.44 (1,476th out of 1,476)
FIP: 6.09 (1,476th out of 1,476)
HR/9: 2.04 (1,476th out of 1,476)
BB%: 11.6% (1,390th out of 1,476)
