After hours and hours and hours of reading reviews, going to stores to check to see if they have the headphones, and listening to certain ones, I've come to a decision. Would it be worth the extra $ for the HD 595's over the HD 555's? And I can't order from Newegg, one of the things of being Canadian :(

If you're just getting into headphones, you should probably pick up the 555s. The sound difference for the upgrade isn't really worth the price difference.

Personally, though, I'm getting the HD595s, because I feel my standard for audio has been raised enough that I can appreciate the 595s to the fullest. I'm also pretty sure I can get them for something like $130 used from Head-Fi FS/T. Not a bad resource if you don't mind buying used headphones, because they're usually much better value.

Well, that gives me a lot more money if I get the 555's instead so then I might be able to buy a Xbox 360 :) Thanks Aflac.

Where do you plan on ordering the 555s? Amazon has them for $93, pre-shipping. Looks like they won't get to your house by Christmas, though, but since you asked on December 22nd, I have a feeling you don't mind ;)

Local B&M store has both on for a cheaper price, and Amazon won't ship em up here :( And Yoyo: I all say is damn. :D Well, Merry Christmas! :gift:

I would personally recommend the AudioTechnica ATH-A500s that you can get for right about $100 shipped from AudioCubes.

Oh carp just realized you're a Canuck. Hmm, well not sure how much that'd be for ya Canadian dollars but since its a Japanese company (AudioCube) it still shouldn't be too bad since its right about $100 to the US.

I agree, I personally didn't find the 595s to be that much better than the 555s (there is a definitely noticably clarity difference but overall they sound fairly similar in my opinion). After trying the A500's big brother the A900s I realized that I didn't like the Sennheiser sound as much as I thought I did and subsuqently got rid of both of the 555s and 595s for them.

Too late :) Plus I don't like closed headphones that much... they make it harder to concentrate on the task without background noise(tv, radio, music) for me. Plus I couldn't buy the imported a-500's because nobody carries them without a special order :(.

I'm quite happy with the hd555 (also have the ath-700). It does take them a while to 'break' in so they will sound better after a bit of usage. I use them with direct hookup to an xf-xtreme. I've thought about upgrading to the ath-900 but for now i think i'll stick with what i have till either the ath700 or hd555 break which might be tomorrow or might be 10 years from now ;)
