I'm buying it this evening and won't be able to get the title and stuff from the seller's bank till next week at the earliest. Then I have to go to the RMV w/o using my car and apply for plates, wait a day, and go back to pick them up.

It's really annoying; I have to ask my roommate for rides or borrow his car. I took his car a lot this week to go car shopping and now I have to continue to get rides from him. I'm filling up the gas in his car and trying not to be too annoying but it's not the best situation.

Why can't they issue a temporary paper tag for a few days based on the bill of sale and proof of insurance? It's such a pain in the ass.

Some states allow you to do that. Or, you could just put your plate on the new car and drive carefully.

They do in Nebraska. I understand in Colorado you go to the courthouse and get temp tags.
I drove from Georgia to Texas to Nebraska in a car with no plates except the dealer advertisement ones (I did have insurance). No problems at all.

You drive them off the lot with 30 day cardboard plates here in Virginia. Some dealers even have limited DMV privileges and issue permanent tags to you when you buy the car.

It looks like it doesn't matter anway...The customer service woman at the bank never closed the ticket on my loan so it didn't get shipped after it was approved. All she had to do was click one more time and she didn't. My bank loan won't arrive today and I'm going to be out of town all weekend. Looks like no car for me till Monday.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

Monday being a holiday (Columbus), most banks and Federal offices will be closed.
