So last night my X calls me up at about 10:45, says we have to talks. Then proceeds to tell me that "You need to clean up your house."
Let me set the stage - she's referring to when she picked the kids up late Thursday night. We got back from Christmas vacation at 00:30 thursday morning after a hellish day traveling (sick as a dog dragging two kids through airports/airplanes for 12 hours). She told me to take the kids back to their grandparents for Christmas because she had "other plans" that apparently didn't include them. She was supposed to take the kids from thursday morning through the whole weekend, but I get a call at work that afternoon that she has a "important meeting" that night that just came up. Can I take the kids from about 5:30 to about 9 that night? Ok, sure no problem - I mean, you haven't seen the kids in close to two weeks, but OK.
So I pick the kids up, they haven't eaten, she's all dressed up. We leave at the same time, and by the way she heads the exact opposite direction from her work so it seems this "meeting" may be more of a social engagement (my 7 year old daughter picked up on that herself). I'm a walking zombie - but I get the kids dinner and we crash on the couch to watch their new Bugs Bunny DVD.
Now the house was already a bit cluttered before the vacation from the mad dash to get everything ready. Now the suitcases are sitting in the living room, rooted through a bit to find some things I needed that day and some new toys the kids wanted. But I've had zero time to do any unpacking/straightening up, much less the energy.
So yea, it's a mess when she walks in. And then she tells me, could I please take them Monday, as she signed up for an extra shift at work. Well sure, I was only going to go skiing, but what the hell.
So, on top of all that, she has the nerve to call me late last night and tell me to clean my house. Ok, so most of you are probably yawning, but I'm so damn pissed off. Yea the house was a little cluttered ONE NIGHT. Never mind that the important bits are taken care of - I have the kids about 80% of the time (by her choice), and I don't babysit them with endless hours of TV as she does. They are happy, healthy, clean, well fed, and know that I am always ALWAYS there for them no matter what. And they never have nightmares about dad leaving them. But I better go clean the house.
No cliffs - read it or don't.
