I feel that today's xkcd sends a special message to all the "anti-intellectual"-ists out there. I feel this way every time I have to explain what it means that "evolution is a theory". I am sure the global climate change defenders have the same joys in their life.

Don't forget the mouse-over.

I know... I know... I often lament and disdain xkcd threads... but fuck it. Everyone else gets to be hypocrites, why don't I?

I saw that a few days ago. He absolutely destroyed her. I had known for a bit that she was a beauty queen and assumed that she was just a blonde chipper dumb piece of ass to put on in the morning. I had no idea she was also apparently brilliant.

It makes a lot of sense; She was smart enough to realize there was market and now she is just playing a character. Much like Glenn Beck. Much like Larry the Cable guy (who I have always said was brilliant at playing to the dumb-American audience). It is too bad people can't see through the act.

I mean, what's more likely -- that I have uncovered fundamental flaws in this field that no one in it has ever thought about, or that I need to read a little more? Hint: it's the one that involves less work.

I feel that this is appropriate for certain members of the forum...

That's the last straw. I've given XKCD every chance in the world, but it's just not funny. No, it's not that I don't get the humor, it's the fact the creator just doesn't have any creative talent. You'll never hear me bitch again about XKCD. It's not funny, it's not cool to like it, it's just lame. /soapbox :colbert:

Anti-intellectual?

I did not know such a term exists. What, is there a group of people deliberately opposed to logical thinking? Dont we already have a group like that? Arent they called christians?

They've been breeding for a while now, so we're starting to see some divergent evolution.

Careful, there's also one in the White House. I hope you two check for Christians under your bed every night before you go to sleep too.

Christ was a Martyr and the be Christian is to be Christlike. You definitely are a Christian.

I suspect Beck is a demagogue, but I think King is the real deal, an ignorant courtesan. Or maybe like Gollum, he didn't start out that way, he just morphed into something lesser.

Beware of 24 hour news networks. They have to fill the time with either fluff, idiots and characters pandering to a certain demographic, or occasionally actual news stories.
