Went to Wally World with the wife last night... I drove her car. Brake light comes on intermittently.
"How long has that been happening?" I ask her...
"about a week or so"

I can hear a little bit of grinding when I step on the brakes... coming from the right side
(I'm guessing a sticking caliper - the brakes are only about 1 1/2 years old)

WHY, WHY, WHY couldn't she have told me last week when I was on vacation and it was 60 degrees?
WHY, WHY, WHY do I have to find out now, when the wind chill factor is around 0?!

Pads are warranted for life... that part will be free. Caliper shouldn't be too much trouble to get sliding properly (I hope)...
I hope the rotor isn't too badly scratched though... but, she's going to have to put up with squeeling brakes if it is... the car is being replaced when she graduates in May.

Maybe the grinding sound that you hear is just the metal tabs scraping the rotors - to tell you the pads are starting to get thin. If this is the case, your rotors should be fine.

Um, I think it's just the workmanship on the pads, not the parts that wear out. Nice try though.
