I've always been fond of Skagen's thin designs, but I don't know if I'd exactly call them "rugged". Long lasting for me, but I haven't put it through a lot either.

i love the skagen thin watches with the mesh band also, but they just do not last for me. I had one about 3 years ago, broke the very thin crystal after just a month or 2 of wearing it on and off. I then purchased a cheap Smith&Wesson field watch that was plastic. the case looks like it got chewed on and the bezel around the crystal came off. the mara-tac got beat up a bit in the last 2 years too, but still looked great with just a few surface scratches that I could polish out if needed. I do no wear my watches at work, but do when not working all the time.

the nice thing about the mara-tac was the pins for the band, they are solid and pressed in (as far as i can tell) and not the cheap little spring clip things that always fall out.

i like the citizen, i came across that one today also. an excellent price too. love the stowa, but $900 is way too much for something that i seem to replace every few years for one reason or another.

This one looks almost the same.

I have one of those for a daily on occasion, but it's slightly too small for my taste. I think they come in two sizes, so pay attention if you order one.

My currently daily watch is a Nixon Private, black face/stainless surround with a black kevlar band from countycomm. I like it quite a bit for a sub $100 watch.

EDIT:

Home for lunch, so I tossed up a pic of all 3 I wear for daily watch.

FYI the watch you lost had a Citizen movement (should be the same exact one in the watch I linked). Your old watch also looks like it was slightly larger with a wider band (22mm vs 18mm). I've had this Citizen watch for over a year (wear it daily), without any scratches on the face. Love this watch and haven't touched any of my other watches since I bought it.

yes, and they may be back in stock on the 28th. i will have to watch for them.

in the mean time i picked up this and some nato straps:

not an automatic, but should never have to change the batteries. I think its a classy looking watch, yet quirky enough with the orange marks and numbers. will look great with black and orange nato bands. I am not a fan of the other leather bands i have had, but am trying this one out for a bit. It is much higher quality than my previous leather bands.

The orange accents would not have been my first choice, but I do like the style, especially the 24 hour marks.

I am a proud owner of Stowa Antea 365. Love it, worth it, get it.
