i bet this has been discussed here before, but the ATOT search fails me :(

i got a wii, and had a couple of questions

1) does nintendo make an official component cable that you can buy? everywhere i look there are third party ones...are they all about the same?

2) i had some of my friend's miis walking around in my parade, and i accidently sent them to the plaza. from the plaza, i deleted the mii, and now they aren't in my parade...how do i get them back?

btw, for those who are considering getting the wii, i highly recommend it!! my fiancee and i have not had this much fun playing video games in a long time!

1) Nintendo does make their own, but it's hard to get your hands on. I believe that retail stores will begin stocking them in Janurary.

Has anyone used those silicon skins for the remotes yet? I'm thinking about getting some.

I bought the silicone skins (or "gloves") for the wiimotes shortly after I had a friend throw a wiimote into my wall playing baseball. The wiimote was fine of course, but it took a good chunk out of my sheetrock. Anyway, I greatly prefer using the wiimotes with the glove on them, they grip much easier and have a nicer feel to them. I have one wiimote without a glove and I never use that one. These are definitely a nice buy, if you don't mind spending a little for them.

Component cables are a must have if you have any type of HDTV. I had noticed that some games were terribly dark on my tv, especially zelda (it was hard to make out the brightness adjustment blocks on the first screen of the game). After using the component cables, it brightened up SIGNIFICANTLY. It is a great improvement and I would not go without them. On a standard definition TV the brightness seems fine with the composite cables. The component cables sharpen up the edges a bit, and Zelda in particular looks much better. Some games still look pretty rough around the edges (Wii Sports), but much better than they did with a composite on standard definition.

I purchased my component cables from the Nintendo store (retail outlets still don't have them) and surprisingly I received them about a week and a half after ordering. I ordered during that big rush when people first found out that Nintendo was carrying them.

Good luck!

When I was playing with my girlfriends Wii, I believe there is a warning somewhere along the way (it might be when you make a Mii) that says if you delete them from the plaza they're gone forever. I could be horribly mistaken, but I'm pretty sure there was a message about that somewhere.

I ordered some cheap Component cables on ebay for $18 shipped. There's definitely an improvement but I cant compare it to the official ones.

I have the skins.. i use black, my 2 boys use blue and green respectively. they work great, but you have to take them off to change batteries.
