Can someone please explain some things to me.

I am looking to get into a mmorpg and I keep reading/hearing about this game.

Is it easy to get into?.....easy to learn the basics?

Is there a demo available?

**edit: hit enter before typing anything.

it's considered a good game and probablly the best of it's genre but i warn you, WoW is beyond addictive. unless you have very good self control, don't go near it.

Easy? Yes.
Mind-numbingly repetative? Yes.
Impossible to max-out without being in a huge guild? Absolutely.
Addicitve? So it would seem. I stopped playing after about 3 months.

The expansion looks promising for those not in a huge guild.
Yes it's easy to play, and fun, and addicting, so watch out.
I believe there is a 10 day trial on fileplanet.

it sucked the life out of me...

beware!

all and all it was too repetitive and not enough crafting stuff for me.

also, too cartoonish.

If you want to have a life or socialize in the real world for the love of god don't do it, I had 2 roommates who each had nearly a year of game play, each. That was when the game had been out a little over 1.5 years, it was really sad and I am glad I quit at lvl 40.

I enjoy it, but that's largely because a group of friends from back home in Atlanta are also on it. If they weren't around, I couldn't imagine it being as much fun.

Is there many versions of the game?...if so, what is the newest? I am going to go out and pick it up today.

Depends on how you are defining "version". WoW is just one game. There are no expansions yet. It does have patches like most PCs games though. When you buy the game in the store it may be quite a few revisions behind, but it will be patched automatically the first time you connect.

Thanx. That is pretty much what I needed to know.

The DVD version was only available through the WoW Deluxe version when it first came out and the Trail version found in an issue of Maxim, AFAIK. The CD version comes w/ 4 discs.

Play this game with multiple people, because it will get boring really really fast if you're not in a group or doing any raids.

wow, so many people with no self control on this forum

Yes, because everyone knows it's impossible to play an MMORPG and have any bit of self control and/or a real life.

Just got back...came with 5 discs

5 disks? Jesus. Mine came with 2 or something, I don't remember. Just not FIVE.

Anyway, it's pretty good. Go for skinning and leatherworking or skinning and herbalism first. Sell stacks of 20 on the auction house. Most other professions are just money pits, wait to start those until you're much higher level when you're rich.

Interesting. Fifth disc must be for the latest cumulative patch. The original WoW came w/ 4 discs, with Female Human, Male Troll, Female Night Elf, and Male Dwarf on the sleeves.
