YAWoWT, What is a good PvP server and question regarding classes in PvP

Alright, im sick of Normal servers. Im tired of seeing taurens dancing in Westfall and im sick of people named OMGWTFBBQ11! walking around. I am growing tired of seeing gnomes running around. I have been playing pally and now i want to be horde. THe only horde race i like is the undead, but they have no pally like character. My main questions are:

What are some very lightly populated PvP servers (fewer people the better) that do not have a dominant side that is spawn camping the hell out of the other?

Also, warlocks seem cool, but im scared of them at higher levels. I mean do their spells work against heavly armoured Players. I know the Pets will be useless as tanks in PvP becuase they will go straight for me in my cloth armour, so how is a warlock at PvP? WIlly a pally or a rogue shred them? Also, how are they against heavily armoured monsters and players or do their spells ignore armour?

thanks

I think he wanted a lightly populated server 😉

I'm on Archimonde myself and it's semi-horde dominated. Not overly though. But it's THE server to be on 😉

is there several level 60s running around randomly killing and spawncamping low levels? also.... ques?

High levels spawn camping lower levels is actually harassment and against the rules. It's somethign that can get you suspended. I've seen it happen when a couple high levels romp through a lower level town. But that's what guilds and fellow players are for - reinforcements. I love PVP even though I'm usually on the losing side and I think it's totally part of the game and "normies" are missing out 🙂

Unfortunately, it's a PVP server so everything goes.
Yeah, you're safe in your own territory and cannot be attacked unless you're a dumb ass and attack first, but in contested territory, you're fair game.

If you wanna be a PVP monster, then be a Paladin.
Not only can you wear armor, heal and res people from the dead, you can go immune to everything and then heal yourself to full life!!

I'm a 38 warrior on Azgalor and I get sonned a lot.
It's so neat when I've got a 40 Paladin down to 1/4 life and he throws up immunity and heals.
YESSSSSSSSs.

Warlocks can fear kids but it did get nerfed and I hear a lot of people say they are now pretty useless in PVP.
Rogues deal the most damage and you can't camp their bodies at all because they can go stealth easily.
Druids are a decent all around class for PVE, they do have entangling roots though which tie us close-combat guys up.
Uh...Hunters usually get sonned by me if I can get to them, otherwise, wing clip, and massive long ranged attacks can get me if they're good.
I HATE Priests. It took me 5 minutes to kill this level 33 priest in Duskwood.
I hate healing classes myself 'cause I can't play them and I've never seen one owning a battle field.
Shamans are like paladins on the annoying scale. If you're alliance, you say shamans are smelly and if you're horde, you say paladins are smelly.
Shams can rock the armor at level 40, they have good nuking spells, they can res people and self-res every 30 minutes.

Join my server and we'll game with you.
I will tell you though that PVP servers will get frustrating at times, especially when a group of 5 alliance members of 40+ keep ganking you over and over again and then camp your body in Stranglethorn.

My question... is how do you change servers ?

Whenever I run it, it say's "Shadowsong" in the corner... doesnt give me an option... 🙁

Sorry for highjacking.

Go to the character selection screen, and in the upper right corner, there should be a button that says "Change Realm" (IIRC). You can't move characters between realms but you could create a character on a different one though.

Edit: And to actually contribute something to the thread, I chose to play on a normal server over PvP or RP. I'm not sure how I would feel if I were minding my own business doing a quest, and get smoked by a group of players from the opposing faction.

I would advise against playing on a lightly populated server. It's hard enough to organize a raid group on the highly populated servers. And even on the high pop servers, there are many zones that are almost completely empty.

The pvp on my server (Azgalor) has been really cool. I'd say about 90% of the time, horde members leave me alone when they see me questing. Most of the fighting occurs on the outskirts of faction towns, where it's easy to call for help if you're getting overwhelmed. Don't believe people when they say that you should just expect to get ganked all the time when you go pvp. There are good servers out there, you just have to find them.

As for characters, there aren't any truly gimpy classes. Some characters are slightly overpowered (Shaman, Paladin) and some are slightly underpowered (Druid, Warrior, and now Warlocks). I wouldn't worry about being powerful, just pick the class that you have the most fun with.

i play on thunderlord. im a lvl 20 undead warlock. up to this point, ive only been raped by one high level alliance player. but, i think i may have provoked him. i havent been to any of the really contested areas yet where most of the fighting goes on. iirc alliance has the majority on my server, but its a relatively unpopulated server.

NO its not.. read the rules again...
on PVP servers this is ACCEPTABLE behavior and can be solved with PVP..
ganking and corpse camping on PVP servers is LEGAL and ENCOURAGED...

Gorefiend is one of the least populated...
still already has a ton of L60s though and alot of gank wars..
but is a blast for me im 46 rogue now..

I'm on Lightning's Blade, quite a low population. Supposedly Alliance dominated, but I think only slightly so. Yes there is ganking, but you're gonna find that on any server. Most of the ganking that I've seen goes on in Stranglethorn Vale, which makes sense since that place is ripe for PvP.

If you can't handle being ganked on a relatively regular basis, then I don't suggest going to a PvP server.

I have found that ganking occurs less now that I'm at a higher lvl (47), but it still does and it's part of the game.

i should have got in on the ground floor when the game first came out on a pvp server but i did not know the rules. damn, too late i guess, ill stay on my nomral PvE server. Guess its true what the people in the guild told me, "by now the PvP servers are full of 9 year old kids who have nothing better to do than to make sure that your gaming expierance is ruined thru corpse camping and griefing"

Well you're not gonna experience for the first 20 lvls or so. And even from 20-30, there is not that much going on since the contested areas you're in are still mostly one sided. From 30 up though, you'll be in some of the more heavily contested area (Stranglethorn is the first big one) where both Horde and Alliance have tons of quests to complete, and oftentimes are completing the same quest. Throw in the neutral town of Booty Bay and you have PvP going on all the time. It ebbs and flows though, sometimes it's bad, sometimes it's nominal.

After the novelty wears off people realize that while PvPing may be fun for a little bit, you don't gain any xp, and you're not getting anything valuable for your char.

i play a lvl 28 warlock on Kel'Thuzad. PVP server and it was insane last night.

The horde organized a multi town attack on Stormwind, Ironforge, Wetlands, Goldshire, and Lakeshire. They even manange to break into both Ironforge and Stormwind and even get into the Deeprun Tram. Its was crazy.

At one point they sat on the boats from Wetlands to Auberdine and didn't let anyone pass. Fun times. The server lag was terrible and it was a bit scary seeing 12-18 Horde coming after you.

I think you would be suprised if you played on a pvp server. On my server at least, it's not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I occasionally get ganked, but even in highly contested areas like Stranglethorn or Hillsbrad people tend to leave each other alone. Also, most of the players I group with act really mature and frown upon ganking other players when we're grouped. I've been in a group where one member attacked another lone player expecting us to help him, only to die with the rest of us just standing there because he attacked the player without asking us first.

I actually don't mind the ganking. There's a reason there are different factions, Horde and Alliance are at war, you should expect to be ganked, and I'll do some every now and then as well. It's part of the game, until Blizzard puts in the honor system. If people wanna complain about ganking they should just move to a PvE server, there is barely any cost to getting ganked anyhow, except that you have to run back to your corpse.

I try not to corpse camp, unless I feel someone really deserves it. Plus, in reality, it's actually quite hard to corpse camp someone, there is a pretty large rez area and usually you can sneak out quite easily without anyone seeing you.

Erm... I thought there was a peace treaty of some sort between the factions...? Or is that just the line they feed us PvEers to make it seem like we aren't playing in a totally illogical universe?

So that must mean you're not playing on Archimonde? 😀

I haven't played on US servers since Open Beta.

Korean Open Beta for me ^^

The Ganking is not all that bad. There is the random 9 year old level 50 that comes along and wipes you

out, but at the same time all it really does is wastes a little bit of your time as you don't lose anything from

dying. It only gets bad when people actually corpse camp, but I have yet to fully experience it. Usually

they might do it once, but really, it does get kinda boring so they leave. Otherwise, I'm a rogue and can

just stealth.

The only complaint that I have about my server (Frostwolf) is that the alliance outnumber the horde by

3.5:1. (I am horde of course). Usually this actually makes it interesting, but can be quite annoying at

times when there are groups upon groups of alliance the can come in and wipe out a horde town (including

the guards) and there are just not enough horde to stop them.

But again, it's actually pretty cool sometimes and the death penalty is so low, I say give'r
