YAWoWT: Mages and teleporting

I keep hearing that as a mage you can teleport around, yet I'm still to find anything about it. I'm currently lvl 21, is there a specic spell I need to train, or some quest to run to get that ability? Also, do I get to teleport anywhere, or only specific locations (like capital cities)?

Go to the portal trainer.

You do not get portal spells from the mage trainer, but the portal trainer. Should be somewhere around where the mage trainers are. They require a reagent.

I don't remember exactly when you get the first teleport spell but it's around lvl 40ish iirc. Haven't played in about a month so my memory is a little fuzzy. You can always check thottbot.com for a spell list. Teleport spells are bought from a different npc than your regular mage trainer although they are usually in the same general area. You also need reagants to cast them. 10s for self port and 20s for group portals.

But it's only capital cities? That makes it kind of useless. It's fairly easy and cheap to get to a capital city.

Then don't buy it.

But setting your hearth someplace you're questing makes a round trip to the AH or a trainer pretty darn quick. (Ding!... portal, train, hearth, back in action with new skills)

It's far more useful in the later levels where you're traveling quite a bit more. Especially useful in being able to warp continents. Set your stone on the opposite continent from your primary cities and you have quick travel back and forth.

try going to darnasus when you are in middle of STV.

btw, you have to go see the portal trainer in each capital city to get the spell for that city. It consumes 1 reagent(cost 10s, 9s with honored for the self teleport).
