YAWoWT: Anybody tried Onyxia since WoW patch 1.10?

So our raid group finally gets rolling last night for our regular Wednesday night Onyxia raid (Horde, Burning Legion server) about 1/2 hour late due to the normal log in and server performance issues, disconnects, etc. . .to which we have all become so accustomed now. Now we have Onyxia on farm status pretty much. We've taken her down before with as few as 27 people in the raid. We have got the encounter down like a well-oiled machine. . .or so I thought until last night.

We get in there, clear all the mobs with not problem and start the encounter as usual. All is going fine through phase 1. Then begins phase 2. Now I play a warlock so it is my duty to keep up my DOT's on her during this phase at all times. But I noticed she was moving around A LOT more and resisting my corruptions and curses A LOT more. It almost seemed like she was warping or porting around the room. And she kept using deep breath. . .A LOT. Must have been 6 or 7 of them. Normally if we are sloppy we let her get away with 1 but most of the time we are doing so much dps during phase 2 she never gets in a single deep breath. We still managed to scatter to the edges before most of the breaths but even still, being as far to the sides as we could get people were still being burnt up. And the average Fire Resist in our raid is 150 and up. I have 175 FR as a ranged dps and that is considered low in our raid.

Needless to say our first try was a wipe before we got her to phase 3 due to this unexpected behavior. There was nothing in the patch notes about it. We got her to phase 3 on our second try but we had lost too many people during phase 2 again and we couldn't get her down. The other wierd thing is that none of the trash mobs you have to clear to get to her ever respawned between attempts.

So we gave up on her and moved on to go to BWL when the entire raid was promptly disconnected upon arriving in Kargath. At that point I gave up for the night. Good game, Blizzard. You win!

So does anybody know.. .is the Onyxia encounter bugged or broken b/c of a botched patch or is this the way she's gonna be from now on?

[EDIT] Edited for the formatting nazis.

I'm a WoW junkie, but I'd suggest getting this put in the Software Forum.

The only thing I've noticed with this patch is that my DPS (Hunter) has taken quite the nose-dive, even though some of my equipment received better stats post-patch.

I heard she was bugged. We've got Ony scheduled for tonight, but I don't know if it's going to happen cause of that crap.

Cool. Please keep us posted on what you find.

She's bugged. My whole raid party got busted by the DEA after we raided onyxia. They came to our houses looking for weed, said they had audio recording of us admitting to growing it.

The deep breaths is a ninja-buff from what I understand. The warping is a bug.

Raiding in general is pretty buggy atm though.

At least they didn't screw with Molten Core.

We ran into the same thing with Ony last night. Deep breathed us to death. Warped around, etc.

We headed over to MC and cleared to Geddon without issues.

No you douche, nobody is going to read one long paragraph. Want more responses? Learn to write effectively.

Maybe everyone on his server decided as a whole to not use the return key, yet still complain when other people have problems reading their posts.

i was thinking...a lot of higher level people complian about the lack of things to do....wouldnt it be better if blizzrd would once in a while change up the patterns or strategy of raid bosses and mobs to keep things interesting...

I understand that "you douche." Which is why I went back and edited my original post even before you posted this very douche-baggish reply. I was just demonstrating that my Enter key does in fact work in a humorous way. Get the friggin stick out of your A$$.

Well, that'd be cool and all but a little heads up or something in the patch notes would be nice. They don't have to outline every little change they made down to the last detail or anything but they could at least say "Onyxia has been made more difficult" or something like that. I mean, people invest a lot of time in learning how to master these encounters and then they just swoop in and change it without notice?! Uncool. . .

Will you please stop with the nested quotes with that downward post that one douchebag made?

I've heard she's changed as well. Knowing Blizzard, it's one of those stealth changes and is probably intended. We've got her scheduled for tomorrow night and have enough trouble as it is (most of my guild is casual, many don't understand the concepts behind aggro and some are on PCs so old they should be in museums) so there's no way in hell we're dropping her. Oh well, at least I got her head for my neckpiece and my bloodfang hood already. I'm daggers, so vis'kag doesn't interest me.

Yup, I sure do. 🙂

Currently on Hellscream and frustrated because I had wanted to move to Thrall (they broke transfers).
