They want to shed the image that Nintendo systems are just for kids.
First party games will probably continue to be as family friendly as before (which doesn't mean they aren't fun for adults), but there's nothing stopping third-party developers from developing more "mature" games.

From what I've read, Call of Duty 3 on the Wii will be set up to use the remote.
